ABOUT

Carlyn grew up in Thomasville, GA and moved to Atlanta upon graduation from Furman University.  She resided in Atlanta for fifteen years where she earned a Masters of Arts in Professional Counseling at Richmont Graduate University and a License of Professional Counseling (LPC) in the state of Georgia.  In 2021, she and her family relocated to her hometown of Thomasville.

During her time in Atlanta, Carlyn practiced at a group home for victims of sexual trauma before launching a counseling ministry at her church.  As director, she offered individual counseling and psychoeducational classes to the local community for ten years.  Her classes focused on anxiety, relational wholeness, boundaries, and the Enneagram.  Carlyn joined the Lifegate team in 2021 and, in a turn of events, she and her family moved south to Thomasville in the same year.  It was a busy year!  Today, she continues counseling Atlanta clients from a virtual platform and offers in-person counseling to those in the Thomasville area, conveniently located downtown at Trinity Anglican Church.      

  
Carlyn enjoys working with a range of ages and presenting issues, but specializes in those in young to mid adulthood as they navigate life transitions, relational dynamics, and identity formation.  She offers a systematic and narrative approach to counseling and utilizes various modalities including two of her favorites, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).  Carlyn’s gentle and compassionate approach encourages emotional safety and client-counselor collaboration.  She desires her counseling space to be a place of relief from the relentless demands of the world.  When she's not in the counseling room, Carlyn enjoys spending time with her husband and their two daughters as well as entertaining with friends, floral arranging, playing tennis and mahjong.
